Browser Details

Amaya 8.5

Amaya - including version 8.5 - lack support for CSS to such an extent that none of the standard style-sheet properties achieve the look and feel that we wish for. This is partially due to lack of support for both position and float as described in W3Cs Current state of the CSS implementation [in Amaya] document

Cello 1.0

The Cello browser does not support either HTTP 1.1, CSS or PNG. Testing was done using a ProxyPass directive to Apache. The content is fully available after graceful transformation.

Firefox 0.9

The Firefox web browser is based around the Gecko rendering engine, and as such has good support for HTML and CSS. Ms. Kaczowka states:

The site seems to be in a standard font and the enlarge font option works well with it. All the text links go from black text and underlined to black text and white background when moused over. The help option appears with a square around it and white on the left side. However, the bottom white seems slightly cut off.

Images, when moused over, get a half white background. Not sure if this is what is supposed to occur.

The bottom half of the page is the white side navigation with the main background stopping an inch and a half above the bottom of the page with the black background showing through. This occurs on 3 of the four browsers.

Page resizes nicely from 1024 X 768 to 800 X 600* and even 640 X 480*.

Despite some minor inconsistencies, in particular with links, we find no issues worth mentioning.

Konqueror 3.0.0

No issues identified

Konqueror 3.0.5

The 3.0.5 version of Konqueror has a problem with the first-letter pseudo-element of CSS, leading to the first letter being duplicated.

Konqueror 3.3

The same issue as mentioned for 3.0.5 exist in 3.3, but has gotten worse. Now the entire element on which a first-letter pseudo-element is applied to becomes duplicated.

No issues identified.

Lynx 2.8.5

No issues identified.

Mosaic 1.0

The browser does not support either HTTP 1.1, CSS or PNG. Testing was done by way of a 1.0 proxy server.

While images and style-sheet formatting is lost, the content is fully accessible.

Mosaic 3.0

Test results are not available, due to repeated problems with the application in question.

MSIE 4.0sp1a

Information missing.

MSIE 5.0sp2

Information missing.

MSIE 6.0

The site seems to be in a fancy half cursive and no enlargement font option available. All the text links go from black text and underlined to black text and white background when moused over. The help option box does not appear at all. The white highlight still appears, however.

Images, when moused over, are shown differently. The first one shows white on the right side, the middle has a white side on the right side with or without a mouse over and the last image has no white nor any white appears when moused over.

The bottom half of the page cuts to match content and the navigation cuts upward to not meet the bottom like the other three browsers.

Page resizes nicely from 1024 x 768 to 800 x 600 and even 640 x 480.

The above text refers to the Window XP version of Internet Explorer 6.

Netscape 1.22

Only minor corrections was done to keep the layout in line; no major problems known.

Opera 6.01

Save for a problem in the positioning of our logotype, the design works as expected, and the content is accessible.

No issues detected.

Opera 7.54

No particular issues detected. The following text applies to the Windows XP version.

The site seems to be in a system font and the enlarge font option works well with it. All the text links go from black text and underlined to black text and white background when moused over*. The help option appears with a square around it and white on the left side. However, the bottom white seems cut off completely.

Images, when moused over, get a half white background. The third image, when moused over, only gets white at the bottom and not the side like the other two. Not sure if this is what is supposed to occurs.

The bottom half of the page is the white side navigation with the main background stopping an inch and a half above the bottom of the page with the black background showing through. This occurs on 3 of the four browsers.
